Objective:
FurnitureDealer.Net needed a solution to create and display customizable upholstery items on the websites of 90+ family-owned, brick and mortar furniture retailers. The goal was to help online shoppers visualize the different ways they can customize their upholstery items and to be able to add these items to the CMS in an efficient way.
Process:
I collaborated with 10+ people to complete the custom upholstery web solution project.
- I worked with the upholstery team to identify pain points in the CMS upload process and website presentation of customizable upholstered furniture.
- I used a 3D fabric draping software to digitally render thousands of product images.
- I worked with the upholstery and client relations teams to create a short story to explain new website features to furniture retailer clients.
- I worked with back-end web developers and the chief technology officer to conceptualize a tool to automatically identify and categorize colors in fabric swatch images.
- I created mock-ups and wireframes for CMS and platform-level website improvements, and I presented them to the lead UX designer/developer, chief technology officer and upholstery team for feedback.
- I conducted competitive research.
- I worked with retailers to identify which customizable upholstery brands are important to their businesses and subsequently built relationships with and gathered information and fabric swatch images from those suppliers.
- I managed 3 upholstery brands. This consisted of uploading product details, writing copy, editing images and creating brand-level features and benefits in a proprietary CMS.
