Objective:
FurnitureDealer.Net needed a complete website overhaul and branded printable handouts. They wanted the aesthetics, architecture and copy to reflect recent changes made to company’s operations and culture. The goal was to communicate their vision to clients, manufacturers and potential employees. Their vision is to create the finest online furniture shopping experience, to build an elite community of the best retailers in North America into the most powerful network in the home furnishings industry, and to be the best place to work in Minnesota.
Process:
I collaborated with a small group of 10 people to complete the content and designs for this website and communications overhaul.
- I directed copywriters, giving them a general idea for each message to convey and supplying them with wireframes so they knew how much text to write.
- I coded responsive website components using current SEO and ADA compliant standards and presented them to the CEO and President for feedback.
- To create a modern feel to the site, I added hover and scroll animations using CSS and JQuery.
- I created an object oriented css style guide that follows brand standards.
- I interviewed members from the operations and client relations teams and summarized how FurnitureDealer.Net works with both furniture retailers and manufacturers.
- I directed each team to write a job description in a simple, cohesive format for web.
- I used a proprietary content management system to set up a new website.
- I photographed events and business interactions
- I used Photoshop to create handouts communicating to retailers which manufacturers are supplying good, helpful information to FurnitureDealer.Net and manufacturers that are not.
